Mike Tyson, Chris Jericho get in pull-apart brawl on AEW Dynamite

Mike Tyson’s time in AEW apparently isn’t over just yet.

The former boxing star and former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho got into a pull apart brawl to close out AEW Dynamite Wednesday, nodding toward a possible match between the two down the line. Tyson was part of Saturday’s Double or Nothing show, presenting Cody with the TNT title.

Tyson, flanked by former UFC champions Henry Cejudo, Rashad Evans, and Vitor Belfort, indie wrestler Mr. Grim, filmmaker Mickey Gooch (black face paint) and another unnamed man, came out as The Inner Circle were having their pep rally.

Jericho said he had been “waiting for this moment for ten years”. While WWE and the situation wasn’t referenced, Tyson knocked him out and turned on him when they teamed up in a 2010 WWE Raw match against then-tag team champions D-Generation X. Tyson was the guest host for the night.

After Tyson said something about how Jericho “stole the title,” Jericho demanded an apology and Tyson awkwardly ripped his shirt off, flexing in front of Jericho instead. The two then shoved each other and both entourages, plus the majority of the locker room, spilled out to break things up. Tyson then charged out of the back and tried to get at Jericho again before being escorted to the back.

Tyson told AEW cameras backstage that he was coming back and Jericho was going to “get his ass kicked.”

It’s unclear why the former UFC fighters were there, but Belfort was and American Top Team founder Dan Lambert were in attendance at Double or Nothing. Belfort is signed with ONE, the Asian-based MMA organization Belfort is signed with that also has a deal with TNT/BR Live.

When asked Saturday why he was there, Belfort didn’t directly answer, telling ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, “Always a reason. Life without a reason means you are dead. I am full of life. The phenom is ready.”
