mobanmarketRHODE ISLAND — Following an incredible outpouring of support from across the state, a rescued miniature horse is headed to his new forever home. The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said they received hundreds of calls and emails from people across the state looking to adopt Toy, a 6-year-old miniature stallion rescued by the organization.
Toy, who was rescued by the organization during a cruelty investigation, is currently receiving veterinary care for laminitis, condition that causes inflammation of the delicate tissues inside of the hoof. He will likely need ongoing medical care.
The identity of Toy’s new owner has not been released, nor where his now home will be located, though a spokesperson for the RISPCA said the individual is someone the organization trusts.
“We’ve gone with someone we know and are comfortable with,” Samantha Nieva said. “Toy will have his happily ever after.”
The organization thanked everyone who reached out in support for the horse, saying they received so many calls and emails that it is impossible to individually respond to them all.
“It is because of all of you and your support that we were able to find him his happy ending,” RISPCA Director Joseph Warzycha said in statement on Facebook.
