Marco Verratti: “At 3-1, the Barcelona players told me it was finished.”

Speaking to reporters following PSG’s dramatic Champions’ League exit, Marco Verratti discussed the aftermath.

“Barcelona deserve to qualify. It was difficult to play, to make passes, they were pressing a lot in the first half. In the second half, we were able to play better. But we conceded a third goal, and there, we understood that we needed to play… With the goal from Edi (Edinson Cavani), we became calm. I spoke to the Barcelona players, who told me that it was finished. It was a match that I will never forget. I hope that this will serve as a lesson for everyone.”

“Now, we will struggle through these difficult moments. There will be others. We need to find strength to lift our heads up again. We need to be men. We are said. We lost 6-1, that is not because of the referees. We are the first party responsible.”
