Joliet Sex Offender Arrested At Will Co. Forest Preserve: Complaint

JOLIET — A convicted sexual offender out of Texas who is now living in Joliet was arrested recently by the Will County Forest Preserve Police at the Lake Chaminwood Forest Preserve on West Shepley Road in rural Minooka.

Will County Jail records indicate that Matthew Duhon was kept in the jail from July 5-7. He resides in the 400 block of Joliet’s Willow Avenue. In recent days, the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office of Jim Glasgow filed criminal charges of sexual predator in a public park against the 47-year-old defendant.

Prosecutors say that Duhon is a child sex offender who knowingly was present at the Lake Chaminwood Forest Preserve near Minooka around 3:20 p.m. on July 5. Duhon’s arrest was made by the Will County Forest Preserve District police. “Child sex offender in public park which includes forest preserve,” Duhon’s initial citation read.

The Illinois State Police sex offender registry indicates that Duhon’s victim was 15 years old and he was 31 at the time of his crime in Texas: aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving a victim between the ages of 13 and 16.

The Lumberton Police Department in Texas still maintains a mugshot of Duhon on its website, indicating that Matthew Webster Duhon committed a sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in the city of Lumberton. He had been incarcerated at the Sanders Estes Unit in Venus, Texas.
