Southampton have entered the race for Monaco defender Benoît Badiashile

Our colleagues at Soccer Link report that Premier League side Southampton have joined a host of interested sides in the race for AS Monaco’s 18-year-old central defender Benoît Badiashile.

The Saints join Atletico Madrid, Real Betis, Valencia, Manchester United and Wolves, with the English sides having made verbal offers of €30m to sign the French teenager.

Southampton have not made an official bid yet, but have formally enquired.

AS Monaco Director General Oleg Petrov is against the potential departure of Badiashile, even though manager Leonardo Jardim has told the player that he cannot guarantee him regular football this season.

The Principality side are therefore currently blocking a departure, but could all that change if some formal written offers are made?

One to watch in the final days of the English transfer window.
