BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Layla Bagels — lauded by Bon Appétit as offering one of the best bagels outside of New York — has chosen a storefront on South Beverly Drive for its second location.
Layla opened its doors on Ocean Park Boulevard in Santa Monica in January, offering a range of options featuring salmon, veggies, cream cheese and egg.
But the star of the show, of course, are the sourdough bagels that head baker Sergio Espana — an alum of Tartine and Gjusta — describes as a cross between Montreal and New York styles.

Layla has filed paperwork with the city of Beverly Hills to open a second location, at 233 South Beverly Drive, the former home of Umami Burger.
A representative of the restaurant told Patch that they have no firm opening date yet, but hope to begin serving at the location in mid 2024. “We are excited to be a part of the South Beverly community!,” the company said.

Layla’s plans call for renovating the South Beverly storefront with white, wood and metal accents and planters out front.
