TREDYFFRIN, PA — Three friends from Conestoga High sampled freshly baked croissants filled with chocolate, macaroons, and cream puffs Thursday at Tous les Jours, a new artisan French-Asian bakery in the Gateway Shopping Center.

By 2:30, on a warm afternoon, the bakery was filling with customers interested in trying a variety of freshly baked treats from the recently opened bakery.

They were excited about the chance to experience the newest addition to the Upper Main Line.

“The cakes are smooth and fluffy,” Hanna Hoffman said, looking at a display of brightly colored slices of creamy cakes, with fruit on top.

The bakery opened Wednesday, June 21, in the shopping center close to the location of a movie theater that closed decades ago.

Lili Chan, manager, said, coffees, lattes, and breads are popular.

“The cakes have the perfect ingredients,” she said. “Not too sweet and creamy.”

Chan said the ube latte, which is made with purple yam and has a mild, sweet flavor, is a popular beverage.

The bakery features cream cheese walnut bread, custard buns, blueberry cream cheese bread, macaroons, and unique cakes, including mango cloud cake, which is a mango mouse, made with egg whites and sugar.

Tous les Jours is a franchise, which has over 90 bakeries in the United States. The bakery was established in 1996 in South Korea.

After taking a look at all of the goodies, the Conestoga friends got a table and devoured croissants and macaroons, while sipping ice coffee.
“The coffee is really good,” Hoffman said.

The cafe at 275 Swedesford Road, is open 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.
