TMZ is reporting that former WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso has been arrested in Detroit.
The incident allegedly occurred when Jimmy (real name: Jonathan Fatu) and his wife, fellow WWE Superstar Naomi (real name: Trinity) was pulled over for driving the wrong way down a one-way street. According to reports, the car “reeked of booze”.
While the police talked to Naomi, Jimmy apparently got out of the car, ignoring orders from the officer to remain in the vehicle. The situation got heated, with Jimmy removing his shirt and allegedly squaring up, preparing for a fight. An officer on the scene reportedly took out his taser, fearing for his safety.
Jimmy finally calmed down, but was cuffed and arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction. He was taken to a local jail, where he posted bond.
Jimmy Uso is scheduled to team with his brother to face WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions Shane McMahon & The Miz at Sunday’s Elimination Chamber event.
UPDATE: WWE has issued the following statement:
“Jonathan Fatu is responsible for his own personal actions.”
