We’ve got some bad news for fans hoping that Chris Jericho’s match against Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 14 might open some kind of bridge between All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. At least for now – it ain’t happening.
Jericho had promised to give the “Ace” a future AEW World Championship opportunity pending the result of their match at the Tokyo Dome. This of course generated a ton of speculation that the two sides had been able to work out their differences, despite contrary reports.
Not only did the 49-year-old veteran save himself a world of potential trouble, but he actually caught Tanahashi in his signature Walls of Jericho and forced him to tap out in the center of the ring. A somewhat shocking move given his importance to the promotion, as well as the annual Wrestle Kingdom event.
