French international and striker Alexandre Lacazette has rejected an opening contract extension proposal from Lyon, according to L’Équipe.
Lyon’s offer was as follows: €6.36m gross annual salary, which would make him the highest paid player at the club, surpassing Mathieu Valbuena’s €6m gross a year.
The parties also discussed the possibility of an exit clause, something that the LFP has made illegal, but which can still be signed as a separate, gentlemen’s agreement between Lyon and the player’s representatives.

Lyon were offering a clause worth €70m, which the player’s representatives found to be unsatisfactory.
More talks are expected to come between the relevant parties, to find notably an agreement vis-à-vis this clause.
