France tighthead prop Uini Atonio has been cited for a high tackle on Ireland hooker Rob Herring in their Six Nations clash in Dublin on Saturday.
Atonio was yellow carded in the defeat to the Irish after a tackle that forced Herring off for a head injury assessment from which he did not return.
The France prop spent 10 minutes in the sin-bin after referee Wayne Barnes decided against issuing a red card for the tackle on the Ireland hooker.
Atonio’s hearing on Wednesday
English official Barnes was criticised by several pundits for his decision, and La Rochelle prop Atonio has since been cited and will attend a hearing via video conference before an independent judicial committee on Wednesday, it was announced on Monday.
The worst things about this for me are that mitigation is considered before the level of danger, and it's not even judged to have a high level of danger anyway.

A Six Nations statement confirmed the France front-row had been cited for an act of foul play contrary to law 9.13.
The law states: “A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously.
“Dangerous tackling includes, but is not limited to, tackling or attempting to tackle an opponent above the line of the shoulders even if the tackle starts below the line of the shoulders.”

Tadhg Beirne to see specialist
Meanwhile, Ireland second-row Tadhg Beirne will see a specialist to determine the extent of the leg injury he suffered during the weekend’s fixture.
Munster forward Beirne left the Aviva Stadium on crutches after he was forced off early in the second period of their impressive 32-19 home victory.
Ireland head coach Andy Farrell said following the game that the issue “did not look great” for Beirne, who has started his country’s last 14 Tests.
The Six Nations leaders have retained a 25-man squad for this week’s two-day training camp ahead of the first-weekend break in the tournament.
Johnny Sexton managing injury
An update states that captain Johnny Sexton is managing a groin injury, while hooker Herring is undergoing return-to-play protocols.
Herring came in as a starter in Round Two for Dan Sheehan, who is continuing his recovery from a hamstring problem under the supervision of the Ireland medical team.
Tadhg Furlong, Cian Healy, Robbie Henshaw and Jamison Gibson-Park are also undergoing rehabilitation from their respective injuries.
Jacob Stockdale, Keith Earls and Jordan Larmour are among the 12 players released to play for their provinces.
