Emiliano Sala met with Neil Warnock in Cardiff yesterday, but remains sceptical of moving

L’Équipe report this morning, as other English outlets have affirmed, that Nantes striker Emiliano Sala met with Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock yesterday.

The French newspaper claims that for 4 weeks already, Nantes and Cardiff have had a £20m agreement for the player’s transfer in place. However, the 28-year-old is not keen on leaving Les Canaris.

If he were to leave this month, he wants it to be for a club that is playing European football.

Nantes manager Vahid Halilhodzic has made it publicly clear on multiple occasions that he wants the club to offer Sala a contract extension, with the striker’s current deal expiring in 2020. But such an offer has never been made. Why? The Nantes board actively wants to sell Sala, and have repeated as much to the player in question in recent days.

Because of President Kita’s desire to see Sala leave, the Argentinian agreed to visit Cardiff on Monday to meet with manager Neil Warnock.

Was it an instant hit? No – as of late last night, Sala was yet to make a decision.
