Geoghegan Seeks Re-Election To Toms River Council

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Kevin Geoghegan, ousted from the Toms River Township Council, has submitted a petition to run for the Ward 2 seat formerly held by Toms River Mayor Daniel Rodrick.

Geoghegan is one of three candidates — two Republicans and one Democrat — who filed petitions Monday to seek the final year of Rodrick’s council term.

Also seeking the one-year term are William Byrne, Rodrick’s handpicked candidate, and Democrat Susan Gato Payne.

George Lobman, who was appointed in January to fill the Ward 2 seat, stated at the time he would not be seeking election to the seat in November.

Geoghegan served on the council in an at-large seat from 2020 through last year. He was defeated in the Republican primary in June 2023, along with his running mates and then-Mayor Maurice Hill.
