SAN DIEGO, CA — Monster Jam trucks are racing into San Diego for two adrenaline-charged weekends.
The Monster Jam Stadium Championship Series West is slated Jan. 13-14 and Jan. 27-28 at Snapdragon Stadium.
The motorsports event tour features 12 athletes and their 12,000-pound monster trucks tearing up the dirt in wide-open competitions of speed and skill. One of the drivers is Bari Musawwir, who drives the Zombie Monster Jam truck and is the current points leader after last weekend’s season opener.

“Monster Jam is an action-packed event for the entire family where you can feel the horse power of the trucks,” he told Patch.
Musawwir has been doing motorsports for 14 years and has been driving Zombie for the past decade.

After a Monster Jam official saw him during an RC truck competition, he was invited to try out for a driver’s position. In 2010, Musawwir made his Monster Jam debut in Panama. Musawwir, who is from Cleveland Ohio, but currently lives in Orlando, Florida, was named Rookie of the Year in 2011 and won the Double Down Showdown in Las Vegas the following year.
Last year, he was awarded the 2023 Donut of the Year.
“I dreamed about being a Monster Jam driver; being able to follow my childhood dream is my favorite part,” said Musawwir, who attended his first Monster Jam event when he was 6 years old.
For the Stadium Championship Series West, the fun begins at the Monster Jam Pit Party fan experience held before each event both weekends.
Fans can see the trucks up close, meet their favorite drivers and crews, and get autographs and take pictures. Activities include the Sand Box play area, inflatable slides, Spin Master remote control truck course, coloring and temporary tattoo station, and photo opportunities.
“At the Pit Party, fans get to meet the drivers and see the trucks up close,” Musawwir told Patch. “It’s one of the only sports in the world where fans can do that.”
During the series, drivers will show off their skills and stunts in freestyle, skills and racing competitions. The Stadium Series West Champion will receive an automatic bid to the Monster Jam World Finals in May in Los Angeles to compete for the title of World Champion.
“Some of my favorite things about Monster Jam are traveling, meeting new people, and exploring the world,” Musawwir said.
Tickets and pit passes are available online at Ticketmaster.com or in-person at the venue box office. Patch readers can use the discount code JAM24 for 25 percent off their purchase.
The Pit Party takes place from 2:30-5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Sundays. The event starts at 7 p.m. on Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays.
