NORTHBROOK, IL — Downtown Northbrook is very important to business owner Serah Cicek. While her passion for the area dates back to growing up in the North Shore, it really kicked up a notch with the opening of EATACO, a 100 percent women-owned Mexican restaurant on Shermer Road, in 2019.
Last year, EATACO’s sister restaurant, Next-Door Lounge, began serving customers literally “next door” on Meadow Road. Next-Door Lounge, which offers “unique food” and a hand-crafted cocktail menu, is also known for its “eclectic” interior decorations.
Now, Cicek is on to her third business venture with the launch of REVER, a woman’s apparel business, in the Meadow Shopping Plaza Shopping Center. The boutique opened in December at a former Starbucks location.

“Our goal has always been to make Downtown Northbrook a destination, and while we have a number of restaurants and other businesses that contribute to this, one of the missing pieces was more places to shop, including boutiques,” Cicek, a graduate of Glenbrook North High School, recently told Patch.
According to Cicek, REVER offers women’s apparel that is modern, chic, stylish, and comfortable. She describes the store’s garments as “versatile” and says they “easily transition from casual to dressy with simple touches.” Cicek said she sought out some of the best European designers and manufacturers in shaping the fabric of the store.

While REVER is very different from EATACO, lessons learned from running that business have helped with the new endeavor.
“As EATACO has grown, our personal and professional growth has blossomed, and our connections with the community have strengthened,” Cicek said.
Cicek has appreciated the early feedback from customers about REVER, especially regarding the styles and quality of the clothing. She said it’s been “amazing and heartwarming” to see customers of all ages shopping at 1931 Cherry Lane. Cicek added that online orders can also be made at REVER’s website, with pick-up available at the store or they can be shipped to “their doorstep.”
With three successful ventures under her purview, Cicek continues to look for ways to help grow the local business and restaurant scene.
“Our aim is to encourage more individuals to come to Northbrook,” Cicek said. “Our goal is to be a one-stop shop for both diners and shoppers.”
REVER is currently open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closed on Sunday. Cicek said hours will be extended in the spring and summer. She said the boutique is also “very active” on social media with Facebook and Instagram accounts.
