Middlesex Boro Alligator Spotted Again Wednesday, Remains At Large

MIDDLESEX BORO, NJ — The small alligator that has been roaming a creek and the duck pond in Middlesex borough was last seen Wednesday, Aug. 30.

The critter remains at large, said Middlesex Police, in their latest dispatch released late Friday afternoon.

On Wednesday, the alligator was spotted swimming in Ambrose Brooke and again on the small island in the middle of the Duck Pond, which is officially called Lake Creighton.

Middlesex Police continue to call the alligator “a public safety risk.” Police say they have tried to minimize all human presence and disturbances on the lake in attempts to lure the alligator to capture.

Fish & Wildlife teams deployed several traps, but the gator still has not been caught.

Victor Crowell Park will remain closed through Labor Day, September 4.

“Borough officials will assess the wildlife investigation and park closure on Tuesday, Sept. 5,” said the town.
