mobanmarketLAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — The Laguna Niguel City Council will select a replacement member on Wednesday during a special council session, the city announced.
A total of 21 candidates will be interviewed starting at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday. The interviews were expected to end at 7:30 p.m., according to the city clerk. They include an Aerospace Engineer, a Beatles impersonator who founded “The Magical Mystery Tour,” an investment CFO, the founder of the Iranian American Chamber of Commerce, and a former Eagle Scout, among others.
Applicants filled out applications by the end of May, and were selected and scheduled for a rapid interview.

At the end of the session, the city council will discuss and appoint a candidate to fill the vacancy left behind by Sandy Rains, who vacated the position of Mayor in April and left the council altogether in May for reasons of personal safety.
Once selected, the appointee will serve out the remainder of Rains’ term, which is over at the end of 2024.
