$20K Winning Lottery Ticket Sold In Crown Heights

CROWN HEIGHTS, NY — A Crown Heights liquor store proved lucky last week, selling a Take 5 lottery ticket worth nearly $20,000. .

One lucky gambler claimed $19,980.50 with a winning ticket purchased at E&D Liquor Store on Empire Boulevard and Rogers Avenue on March 6.

The Crown Heights ticket-holder was far and away the luckiest of the day — the next-highest afternoon winners took home only $253.50, and there were no first-place evening winners.

Brooklyn has been lucky with lottery draws this month. On Thursday, a Canarsie store on Flatlands Avenue and East 104th Street sold two top-winning tickets each worth $19,545.

Since the lucky Crown Heights Draw, a Take 5 player in Middletown won a $38,196 prize and a White Plains player won a $33,377 prize, according to the New York Lottery.

While not as uncommon as the PowerBall, Take 5 top hits are still hard to come by. Each ticket holder has a one in 575,757 chance of winning the top prize, according to the NY Lottery. Players have a one in 3,386 chance of winning a second place prize, a one in 102 chance of a third place prize and a one in 9.6 chance of hitting a fourth place prize.

New York City’s PowerBall lottery was up to $52 million for Monday’s draw, after one Manhattan and one Newburgh ticket holder took home $50,000 each on Saturday.
