Upon their return to France’s top flight, Auxerre have made a terrible start to their new campaign. They have lost six and won just two out of the 11 Ligue 1 matches this season thus far.

The report suggests that the poor run of results—coupled with the middle fingers directed toward a group of Clermont supporters—caused Furlan’s sacking.

After the 1-1 draw against Nice on Sunday, the leaders of the club internally agreed that they would hire the former Lorient manager as their next coach.

It is understood that Auxerre should finalize the move next week. A free agent since June, Pélissier has always shown an interest in coaching in Ligue 1. With the club now close to the relation zone, the report claims that the 57-year-old manager is keen on keeping AJA in the top tier of French football by the end of the 2022/23 season.
