Speaking following Paris Saint-Germain’s second 1-1 draw with Benfica last night, manager Christophe Galtier spoke about the situation surrounding striker Kylian Mbappé, with multiple outlets reporting his desire to leave the club in January, as transcribed by L’Équipe.
“I don’t know anything. I just know that a rumour became a piece of information and then almost a statement. I haven’t seen anything different, I find it surprising that this happens before an important match. I’ve never heard of any discussions. Kylian played a very rhythmic, very intense match. He gave an answer to this rumour. I don’t think this rumour has disrupted the preparation of the match.”
“I didn’t talk about it at all with my players, nor with my staff. We stayed focused on the preparation of the match. I am surprised. It’s a rumour. Whether it comes out four or five hours before the match, I have the right to be questioned. Who is this rumour for?”
