WWE Hall of Famer Edge recently commented on the eight-year anniversary of his retirement from the business. The former world champion posted a photo of himself from that night on Twitter and said that the expression on his face was a “look of relief” after a fulfilling 20-year run.
The Rated-R Superstar was forced to hang up the boots in 2011 due to a neck injury and he hasn’t performed in a WWE ring since then. Edge made his claim to fame alongside Christian and the two rose to prominence during the tag team revival of the early 2000”s.
The duo feuded with The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz, making tag team history on more than one occasion. They brought the TLC Match to WWE and made tag team wrestling a main event powerhouse in Vince McMahon’s company.
But Edge became a top guy in his own right, winning the WWE and World Championships for a combined 11 times. Edge joined the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012 and continues to be active in the company on the WWE Network.
Today is 8 yrs since I retired. This pic is from right after announcing it. That’s a look of relief after 20 yrs of fulfilling all of my dreams and then some. I’ve since helped make 94 episodes of television, a podcast & 2 beautiful little girls. Not exactly “retirement” I guess pic.twitter.com/bAUz8m5B3x
