Greetings, Heat is the final stop before Unforgiven which is just mere hours away so come on in and join me. Three matches on tap and we start with…………

The Highlanders vs Jason Cash & Adrian Lynch
Lynch looks a cross between a fat Mr Perfect (RIP) and Shane Douglas in his early wrestling days. Robbie clean breaks following a tussle to the corner with Lynch. Lynch elbows free from a waistlock. Lynch rams Robbie’s head in the corner to no effect so Robbie boots then rams Lynch’s head into the corner. Robbie Irish whips, yells his name then hits a battering ram in the corner. Rory’s head is then used for a second battering ram. Rory lifts then drops Lynch out of the corner by his feet. Rory headbutts Lynch’s groin. Robbie comes back in, Lynch staggers him with a punch then tags out. Cash lands punches before sending Robbie off the ropes. Robbie ducks a clothesline before coming back with a dropkick and slam. Robbie slams Rory onto Cash. Rory gets a nearfall. Rory headbutts Cash down. Robbie lands two european uppercuts, another slam then misses with an elbow from the second rope. Cash winds up the arm, tags out and despite punching back, Robbie is worn down by punches from the job team. Lynch snapmares then applies a cross armbar. Robbie punches free, Lynch ducks a swing, lifts Robbie for a back suplex but Robbie flips back then both men botch a boot attempt then a shoulder tackle. Robbie grabs an arm, Lynch forearms, sends Robbie off the ropes, Robbie kicks Lynch in the head and both men tag out. Coachman notes the sloppiness. Rory delivers a clothesline, double axehandle sledge, flying forearm and flapjack to Cash. Rory kicks Lynch off the apron tags Robbie and Cash gets finished with the Scot Drop (double reverse slingshot suplex). Robbie covers 1-2-3. A paint by numbers Highlander squash which fell apart in the middle. Bad opener. Here Are Your Winners: THE HIGHLANDERS. Post match Coachman notes the Highlanders got the job done and speculates on what the future holds for them. I see more jobs.

Daivari vs Super Crazy
Rematch from a few weeks back which Grisham reminds us of. Daivari kneels, prays then cuts a persian promo which gets cut off by Crazy’s entrance. Daivari backs Crazy to the corner then backs off as a Super Crazy chant starts. Both men apply brief hammerlocks. Daivari backelbows Crazy twice then applies a side headlock. Daivari off the ropes lands a shoulder tackle. Daivari prays for some crowd heat before Crazy counters a step over by tripping Daivari. Crazy delivers two armdrags then gets some one counts with Daivari trapped in an armbar. Daivari gets up so Crazy goes to an armwringer. Daivari rolls into a reversal so Crazy uses his feet to kick Daivari away. Crazy lands a forearm, Daivari reverses an Irish whip but charges into a backelbow. Crazy goes to the second rope, Daivari pulls him off by the legs and Crazy crashes and burns in the corner. Daivari stomps away before choking Crazy with his boot. Daivari chokes Crazy in the ropes with his hands before landing a running spike across the back for a nearfall. Daivari drives two knees into the back before applying a chinlock. Crazy responds to a Super Crazy chant elbows free but runs into an abdominal stretch. Crazy hiptosses free but Daivari rolls through and clamps on a waistlock. Daivari breaks to drop two elbows across the back before re-applying the waistlock. Crazy gets up and lands a headbutt. Both men exchange punches, Crazy blocks a head ram in the corner, punches the gut then sends Daivari’s head into the turnbuckle. Crazy blocks then lands a series of forearms, two dropkicks then a nice flapjack/facebuster combo. Crazy covers in an oklahoma roll 1-2-kickout. Daivari catches Crazy with a jawbreaker then sends Crazy off the ropes. Daivari puts his head down, Crazy boots then nails a spinning heel kick. Crazy gets Daivari up and slams. Crazy goes up top, Daivari dodges a moonsault but Crazy lands on his feet. Daivari ducks a clothesline but gets caught in a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Crazy nails a standing moonsault, covers, 1-2-3. Really good match. Here is Your Winner: SUPER CRAZY. Post match Crazy grabs his tricolore vest then motions 1-2-3 with his fingers.

Melina vs Candice Michelle (Non Title)
The paparazzi welcomes Melina for her Heat debut. Melina delights everyone with her split legged entrance. Candice (in a nice cheetah print style outfit) gets the crowd pumped up to begin and poses with her belt while Melina looks away. This match isn’t the Main Event as Grisham informs us of a formula change with a recap of Hornswoggle McMahon being given the Main Event birth. After a tense lockup, Candice reverses a hammerlock and Coachman puts her over for the steps she’s made as a performer/wrestler over the years. Melina hooks the hair twice before elbowing free after being in the hold a while. Melina applies a full nelson before kneeing the gut then re-applying the hold. Candice drops down, hooking Melina’s legs for a nearfall. Candice hiptosses Melina then hits a rolling running snapmare off the ropes for a one count. Melina lands a shot to the throat then an Irish whip. Melina connects with a corner clothesline before scaling the corner and hanging off Candice while trapping her in a headscissors. Candice hangs onto the ropes to avoid a second Melina charge. Candice kicks the back, pulls Melina back then hangs outside while trapping Melina in a headscissors of her own. Nice agility on show by both Divas. Candice gets back in to drop a double axehandle across Melina’s back. Candice hooks the hair, Melina shoves her down and both Divas go back and forth mauling each other with punches on the mat. I can hear Joey Styles now yelling Catfight, Catfiiiigght. Candice gets the better of the exchange and after throwing Melina’s head into the mat both Divas get up screaming while hooking the others hair. Melina boots Candice in the chest before kicking her down. Melina stomps, sustains a Candice gut punch and throws Candice face first down to the mat. Melina ties up Candice’s legs in a double grapevine and yanks at the hair before stomping Candice’s face down by pushing her boot into the back. Candice gets up in the ropes so Melina jumps on her back and chinlocks her in the ropes. Melina takes Candice down by the hair and covers for a nearfall. Melina delivers a backbreaker then drapes Candice across her knee. Candice lands knees to the head to get free. Candice elbows the gut, sends Melina off the ropes, Melina goes low, picks a Candice leg and applies a single leg boston crab. Shades of Lance Storm just not as crisp. Candice inches to the ropes, Melina pulls her away so Candice rolls over and pushes Melina away with her other foot. Melina advances and gets two feet in her face. Candice gets up and wins a forearm exchange. Candice knees the gut, double axehandles the back then hits a clothesline and two dropkicks. Candice plays to the crowd then measures Melina and hits a spinning heel kick. Candice goes up top, misses a cross body and Melina immediately covers for a nearfall. Melina punches Candice before sending her off the ropes. Candice comes back with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors. Melina goes to the corner, Candice advances and gets booted in the gut. Melina charges with a big boot attempt but Candice catches and puts Melina down in a splits position. Candice finishes things with the Candy Wrapper (Unprettier) for the 1-2-3. A surprisingly good match. Candice tunes up for Beth Phoenix later on. Here is Your Winner: CANDICE MICHELLE.

That does it for Heat this week in terms of in-ring action. For the second successive week a Val Venis victory over Jay Bradley has been edited off the show.

Best Match: Daivari vs Super Crazy just shades it.
Worst Match: The Highlanders vs Jason Cash & Adrian Lynch.
Show verdict: Thumbs up. A bad opener was cancelled out by two really good matches. This week’s show is well worth a look.

Unforgiven picks

John Cena (c) vs Randy Orton (WWE Title)
Following Orton’s attack on Cena Snr this feud just got really personal. Cena’s intense promos following the attack have been good and I can see him getting Dqed here to continue the feud into a cage match or something. I hate DQ finishes but I can’t see Cena winning clean over Orton two straight matches even though I hate Orton. Pick: RANDY ORTON

Great Khali (c) vs Batista vs Rey Mysterio (World Heavyweight Title)
Thank god Mysterio is in this match. That’s all I can say. I’d put the belt on Rey but I don’t think that will happen. Next best thing is to put it on Batista and just release Khali who just gets worse. Batista just can’t get a PPV win. I think that will change tonight. Pick: BATISTA

CM Punk (c) vs Elijah Burke (ECW Title)
These two have a long history so that takes care of the buildup. I can’t see Punk as a transitional champ so I’ll pick him to win after an entertaining match. Could be match of the night if given time. If Burke were to win I’d have Marcus Cor Von come back and cost Punk a victory. ECW needs some talent depth. However, I’m still sticking with Punk. Pick: CM PUNK

The Undertaker vs Mark Henry
Undertaker’s injuries have healed fast. Hopefully there’s not much ring rust and he can carry Henry to a passable effort. No doubt Taker to win then chase the world title. Shame that Henry seems to be sticking around as he’s very immobile and terrible to watch. Pick: UNDERTAKER

Triple H vs Carlito (No DQ for Carlito)
This feud has been pretty one sided thus far and I don’t see that changing tonight. Triple H will mow through Carlito, his weapons and dispose of any run-ins as he makes his way through all the midcard heels on Raw. With Umaga, Mr Kennedy and King Booker all on the sidelines logic would suggest Carlito wins here to prolong the feud and give him some credibility. Unfortunately that won’t happen. Pick: TRIPLE H

Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch (c) vs Paul London & Brian Kendrick (World Tag Team Titles)
Can’t wait to see this match. Two great teams on hand should provide an entertaining match. I can see this one opening the show. I’ll pick the champs to go over here then let Londrick chase them a little bit more. This would have been Cryme Tyme’s shot but never mind. Pick: LANCE CADE & TREVOR MURDOCH

MVP & Matt Hardy (c) vs Deuce ‘N’ Domino (WWE Tag Team Titles)
The inevitable MVP/Hardy rematch has been delayed again but their feud/story is the best thing going on Smackdown so I don’t mind the wait. The story of reluctant partners/champs has been told well and I’m predicting a good match here. There’ll be some bumps in the road but the champs will retain. It’s better than giving Deuce ‘N’ Domino another reign who really need to step it up in the ring in my view. Pick: MVP & MATT HARDY

Candice Michelle (c) vs Beth Phoenix (Women’s Title)
Candice has been on a roll this year, overcoming all obstacles. This will be a challenge too much as I predict the Glamazon will win the belt then feud with Mickie James. Candice has improved a great deal in the ring but this night will be Beth’s. Pick: BETH PHOENIX

There you have it. Maybe Jeff Hardy will get on the card and defend his Intercontinental title. Nevertheless wherever you are enjoy Unforgiven, take care and I’ll see you back here next Sunday for Heat. Shaun.
