Last night in Orlando, Kurt Angle defeated Sting to regain the TNA World Championship at this week’s second batch of iMPACT! tapings. The show will air next week, October 25.
During their match, Sting had Angle in the Scorpion Deathlock and pointed at Kevin Nash, who was at ringside. Nash went to interfere but Sting hit him while he was on the apron. Referee Rudy Charles got knocked out and Angle nailed Sting with the Olympic Slam. A second referee (Earl Hebner) ran down and counted the pinfall.
Angle first acted as if he appreciated Nash’s help but then flipped him off and left the arena. Heber and the original referee argued while Jim Cornette came out and said he was going to review the decision.
Later in the show, Cornette announced that Hebner’s decision stands and that Angle was indeed the NEW TNA World Champion.
HOWEVER – Angle will have to defend the gold in an unorthodox fasion in the main event of TNA’s next PPV. At TNA GENESIS on November 11th, Kurt Angle will team with Kevin Nash and they will fafce Sting and a mystery partner. Whoever gets the fall in that contest will be the TNA World Champion.
