At WWE’s NXT tapings on Wednesday night, a series of matches was held to determine the new #1 contender for Samoa Joe’s NXT Championship.
The matches saw Tye Dillinger defeat Eric Young by DQ, Andrade “Cien” Almas defeat No Way Jose, Roderick Strong defeat Elias Samson and Bobby Roode defeat Oney Lorcan.
Dillinger, Almas, Strong and Roode then competed in a four-way limination match where the winner becomes the new #1 contender. Roode was victorious, eliminating Dillinger last, earning Roode a shot at Joe’s NXT Title.
The qualifying matches will likely air on December 14th, with the four-way match airing on December 21st. Roode vs. Joe for the NXT Title is expected to take place at Takeover: San Antonio on January 28th, during Royal Rumble weekend.
