As noted, WWE dropped the “Crews” from his name after the tragic incident involving Nikolas Cruz killing 17 students and teachers with an AR-15 assault rifle in Parkland, Florida.
Shortly after the tragedy was all over mainstream news, WWE dropped the “Crews” name to avoid any links to Cruz. They removed the last name from Apollo’s official roster page on WWE.com. Additionally, the WWE Superstar adjusted his social media accounts to reflect the change to his name as well.
It’s worth noting that WWE has recently modified his official profile page again, adding the “Crews” last name back to the page URL and his actual profile. Check out the updated profile page at WWE.com.
