Heading into their biggest media week of the year, WWE was once again the focus of a topic discussed at length on Sunday night’s episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on HBO.
The 23-minute segment focused on WWE and Vince McMahon and how talent in the company are considered independent contractors instead of employees, and don’t receive the proper benefits as a result.
Oliver spoke about how if you are a WWE fan, you have a voice — and you should use it. He pointed to WWE making moves based off of fan campaigns, bringing up the “Give Dives A Chance” movement on social media, WrestleMania being headlined by a women’s match for the first time in history this year and more.
