WWE Not Running Tour of India Anytime Soon.

Despite the word of the WWE wanting to expand its presence in India and Jinder Mahal’s recent WWE Title win, the WWE is not scheduled to tour India in the foreseeable future with live events. Although a tour might be scheduled for later in the year, nothing is on the docket right now.
Interestingly, Alberto Del Rio appeared in India last year while still working for the WWE and said that a tour had been scheduled for September 2017, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Of course, Alberto no longer works for the WWE anyway.
Despite India being a hot market for Wrestling action in recent years, it is actually very difficult to run actual events in the country. WWE has run tours there before and not found a great success. Impact Wrestling has also run India in years past as well. In India, it is not unusual for a sponsor to buy up all the tickets to an event like this and give them out for free as advertising, whereas selling tickets the traditional way is much more difficult as a lot of the fans being marketed too can’t afford the tickets being sold. If the WWE wants to expand more into the country and hold more live events there, they will have to be creative in how they handle them.
