New Mae Young Classic Logo, Big Update on NJPW’s US Expansion

WWE’s official twitter account recently unveiled a new logo for the upcoming Mae Young Classic tournament that will be airing soon. The show will begin taping in just one week from Full Sail University, and it will be premiering on August 28th. The new logo features blue lettering and is updated from the previous logo. The tournament currently has thirteen of the 32 participants announced, and the remaining women will be announced shortly. The new show will feature ten episodes, and the action will be called by Jim Ross and Lita. The tournament will conclude with a live special from Las Vegas, Nevada on September 12th.
New Japan Pro Wrestling has been entertaining fans for years with their exciting and unpredictable matches. The company decided a while ago that they were going to make a bold move: attempt to expand over into the United States of America. The company recently held shows for the first time ever in America, and the shows were met with critical and financial success. Their first US show saw Kenny Omega win the G1 tournament, and become the first ever IWGP United States Champion. The New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Special has been widely praised by fans, and now the company has confirmed new plans as they continue to expand into the country.
During the second night of the tournament, the company announced that they will indeed be returning for more shows in America in 2018. @Strigga from PuroLove.com translated an interview with New Japan owner Takaaki Kidani from Tokyo Sports, and revealed that they should be back in the US no later than March or April of next year. The plan is also apparently for New Japan to open a new office and dojo in Los Angeles next year as well. The shows next year will be done in a touring style. New Japan has been a phenomenon in Japan for decades, and expanding into the US will not be easy, but they certainly have the talent to get it done. The main wrestling promotions in the US are WWE, Global Force Wrestling, and Ring of Honor.
