The former British spy who compiled a dossier of lurid claims against Donald Trump is facing new demands to appear before Congress amid anger at his repeated rejections. 

Congressmen and committee figures have told The Telegraph that Christopher Steele’s evidence is key to understanding what really happened between the US president and Russia. 

They want him to appear before two powerful committees investigating Russian election meddling to help settle a growing row over the dossier between Democrats and Republicans.
