WWE Announces Dates, Ticket Info, & More for Mae Young Classic II

The second annual Mae Young Classic tournament will be taking place very soon. Another edition of the women’s tournament was first confirmed by WWE earlier this year during WrestleMania weekend, but exact details on when the show would be happening remained scarce up until now. Triple H teased earlier this week that he would be making a major announcement concerning the women’s division in WWE, and he just made that very announcement earlier today by confirming the dates and extra details for this year’s Mae Young Classic tournament. Fans can now look forward to seeing the women’s wrestling tournament return for the second year in a row later on this year in August.

Are you ready? @WWE @MaeYoungClassic 2018 will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 8 & Thursday, Aug. 9 at @FullSail, and YOU can secure your tickets beginning tomorrow at 10 AM ET! #MaeYoungClassic https://t.co/9AqV0IGNSO

WWE has just announced that the Mae Young Classic tournament will be taped in Full Sail University once again this August. It will be a two-day event that begins on August 8th and ends on August 9th. Orlando fans will be able to purchase tickets for the shows starting tomorrow morning at 10am ET. There is currently no word on when WWE plans on adding the tournament to the WWE Network. Fans may recall that episodes last year’s tournament were uploaded together in batches, unlike the weekly release schedule that the Cruiserweight Classic tournament went by in 2016. There has been no word from WWE on if they will be uploading the shows in that fashion again this year.

None of the participants for this year’s tournament have been confirmed as of yet, but names such as Io Shirai and Meiko Satomura are rumored to be joining the tournament with other participants both new and familiar to WWE fans.WWE did also announce that the show will feature 32 participants once again. Last year’s tournament came down to Kairi Sane and Shayna Baszler. Kairi won the tournament and is now an NXT Superstar while Baszler is currently working as the NXT Women’s Championship. Additionally, Serena Deeb now works as a trainer in the Performance Center. Also, Sarah Logan now competes on Raw, Toni Storm works for NXT UK, and Candice LeRae, Lacey Evans, Dakota Kai, Bianca Belair, Kavita Devi, Rhea Ripley, and Taynara Conti all appear on NXT regularly. Hopefully this year’s tournament proves to be just as monumental as last year’s did.
