Rashad Evans officially announced his retirement today. Dana White had said that after the Chicago PPV show and Evans loss that he would be retiring but he didn’t confirm it. He was on Ariel Helwani’s MMA show today and said after having some time to think, he’s retiring.
WWE is doing an angle that contract negotiations with Brock Lesnar and WWE have stalled and thus they don’t have a date for his next title defense.
Impact announced that Eli Drake has signed a new deal. The time frame of the deal is at this point not clear.
Advertising in San Antonio lists the 9/16 Hell in a Cell PPV top matches as Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens and A.J. Styles vs. Samoa Joe. Keep in mind that advertising in Pittsburgh listed two different cards, and they ended up changing both of them.
Kevin Harvey noted that Rise was in trouble. He said the 6/29 show in South Gate, CA will go on as will the 7/7 and 7/8 shows. He said he doesn’t want to cancel 10/19 in Berwyn, IL but ticket sales have been pulled. He said those who have tickets will be refunded if the show is canceled. Harvey said it’s a real possibility that the 7/8 tapings in Naperville, IL could be their last show.
New Japan has put up the legendary Stan Hansen vs. Big Van Vader match from the Tokyo Dome for free on New Japan World in honor of Vader.
The last set of NJPW interviews includes the Juice Robinson promo that people have been talking about for the Cow Palace show. Aside from the swearing, this is the closest thing to old school promos that are in wrestling.

12th Annual F4W Empire Vegas Convention
Greetings friends and fans of the F4W / Wrestling Observer website. It’s time to announce the details of the 12th annual F4W / Wrestling Observer Empire Las Vegas Convention~!
This year’s event will be taking place in Las Vegas from August 16th to the 20th and will again be in conjunction with WWE’s SummerSlam weekend a.k.a. Super China Buffet Day~! There will still be the usual events, but our big draw will be WWE’s summer blockbuster PPV, SummerSlam. As per tradition, we will all gorge ourselves at a Las Vegas buffet, and then watch SummerSlam in a rented out movie theater. All information and ticketing prices are available now. Sign up ASAP as spots are limited for some events.
This year will also feature a Future Stars Wrestling show which will include the first ever Gladys Gibson Doubles Match Classic! Already booked for the show are the teams Mia Yim & Leva Bates, Lufisto & Shotzi Blackheart, Samantha Heights & Brittany Blake, and Miranda Alize & Kylie Rae. Kris Wolf will also be appearing along with many more future stars. There may even be a classic star or two making an appearance. You won’t want to miss this show!
