New champions crowned at WWE Stomping Grounds

The United States and Cruiserweight titles both changed hands at Stomping Grounds.

Ricochet defeated Samoa Joe to become the new United States Champion. After Joe moved out of the way of a 630 attempt, Ricochet hit a codebreaker and landed the 630 to win the title.

Ricochet was greeted by Triple H, Seth Rollins, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, Carmella, Charlotte Flair, and Heavy Machinery backstage after the match. Later in the show, there was a segment where Ricochet was taking part in a photo shoot. Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, and AJ Styles walked up to him, with Styles telling Ricochet that he’ll see him on Raw tomorrow.

This is the first title that Ricochet has held on the main roster. He was also North American Champion during his time in NXT.

On the pre-show, Drew Gulak defeated Tony Nese and Akira Tozawa in a triple threat match to win the Cruiserweight Championship. Nese was champion heading into the match but didn’t take the fall. Nese was sent to the outside, then Gulak hit a torture rack neckbreaker on Tozawa to become WWE Cruiserweight Champion for the first time in his career.
