Turkey: Massimo Barbolini appointed the women’s head-coach

An Italian coach, Massimo Barbolini, signed a contract with the Turkish Federation to carry out the women’s national team. The deal will take effect till the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, 2016.

Massimo Barbolini actually is being employed by Galatasaray Istanbul. Previously, he trained Italian National Team in the years 2006 – 2012. Having coached Italy, Barbolini won the Volley World Cup twice (2007, 2011), European Championship twice (2007, 2009), and the Grand Cup Champoinship 2009.

Earlier, he also won the Women’s Champions League (1996, 2006) and the Championship of Italy (1994, 1995, 2004, 2005, 2007).

This spring, Barbolini will guide Galatasaray Istanbul in the Final Four Champions League and then, he is going to decide if he continue cooperation with the club or if he focus only on the work of the national team.
