UPCN San Juan Voley, Personal Bolivar, Sarmiento Santana Textiles and Buenos Aires Unidos reach semifinals after sorting different degrees of difficulties in their Quarterfinals series. Now, in semifinals, UPCN will face Bolivar and BAU will do so against Sarmiento.
Buenos Aires Unidos, first in regular season, had to fight to get through Gigantes del Sur, the eight. Even though, Guillaume Samica’s team solved a three-match series with great performances of Nicolas Uriarte, Ivan Marquez and Andre Radtke.
Personal Bolivar, without Giba, who is dealing with some personal issues in Brazil, kicked Puerto San Martin out of the competition by defeating them without losing any sets in the entire series.
Meanwhile, in San Juan, UPCN Voley got rid of La Union de Formosa with a little more effort: after obtaining a 3-0 victory in the first encounter, Bogdan Olteanu’s teammates had to redouble its efforts to take two 3-1 wins that lead them to next round.
The most close series was the one between Boca and Sarmiento. Two tight wins in tie break gave Boca a 2-0 lead in Buenos Aires, but history changed in Resistencia. Mariano Giustiniano, Cristian Poglajen and Santiago Darraidou led Juan Manuel Barrial’s team to tie the series after winning by 3-0 and 3-1, to take the fight back in the capital city. In a crowded “Bombonerita” stadium, Sarmiento and Boca gave an impressive volleyball show, that ended with a 1-3 defeat and the elimination of the host team.
