Collegian Wins Doyle’s but “Coach” Tops NER Pub Series

Excuse the delay and we’ll keep it short and sweet as we’re currently duplicating everything for this new website to be launched in the near future and we’re learning the ropes, but this new site is going to be Fantastic. It will be Wonderful. People are going to Love it!

Great weather for Doyle’s, for the runners, the bagpipers, spectators and drummers along the final Williams St. straightaway.

The men’s winner was another recent college graduate – BU 5K/10K man Paul Gennaro of the Forest Hills Runners (who had a tent and showed up in force). The 2016 Terrier graduate was chased to the finish line by Newton North coach Shawn Wallace, just 5-seconds behind Gennaro in 26:05.

Wallace finished 3rd at An Ras Mor in a race won by recent U. of Richmond runner Justin Keefe, a former runner for Wallace at NN.

This puts Wallace in the driver’s seat so far but loyal Publicans TJ Unger, Lee Danforth, Chris Klucznik, Greg Picklesimer and Patrick Bugbee were all top-10. Too boot, SRR’s Picklesimer broke Mark Reeder’s M50 record by 19 seconds in 26:54.

Former Nebraska Wesleyan and current BU graduate student Hayley Sutter repeated her win from 2016 in 29:32 despite being under the weather with her voice a raspy croak. NH Master supreme Leslie O’Dell followed in 31:39 with current Pub Series 1-2-3-4 leaders Amanda Watters (BAA), Christine Howe (HFC), Dana Deingenis (HFC) and Kristin Shaw (BAA) following closely.

Young Whirlaway aces Katrina Martyn and newcomer Heather Spinney hold down the 5-6 slots.

Now, on to the Corrib Pub 5K in W. Roxbury on June 4 and its exhilarating rollercoaster 2nd mile up and down, 3rd mile way up and way down, course. Women’s Standings
