The era of social media, especially Twitter, has made lives of the railway passengers relatively easier in India. We often get to read stories on how passengers get immediate help after tweeting about the problem tagging the railway ministry and the concern ministers.

However, Indian Railways have many such stories from the time when social media did not actually exist and having a mobile phone was a luxury. One such story dates back to 1993 when one Train Ticket Examiner aka TTE, a Line Man, a newspaper and a few onions saved the life of an ailing lady who happened to be the mother of an ISRO scientist.
